Fortune gives thanks...

Fortune is doing well in his foster home. He is getting along nicely with the other dogs and cats that live there. He is still taking his medication and appears to be feeling great. He will be spending Thanksgiving in a nice warm, loving home, and he is very thankful for that. Fortune is also thankful for all the care he has received, and for all of the people who have kindly donated to help cover the costs of his medical treatments. Thank you for your continued support of Fortune and all of our other wonderful dogs who are looking for families of their own.

Fortune heads to foster care!

It was a big day for Fortune yesterday because he got to leave the vet's office and go live in a foster home. Fortune knew something good was coming when the vet tech took him into the grooming room for a much-needed bath. After 31 days of living at the vet's, Fortune is now well enough to go home, but he'll need to continue with his medications for a while longer. If his medication is discontinued too soon, the Puppy Strangles can return with the possibility of being worse than before. Once he completes all of his medication, he will be neutered and ready to find a permanent home. When I stopped by yesterday to see him before he went home, he was so happy that he never stopped running around for more than a few seconds. Most of the pictures I took of him were blurry due to his constant motion. This little guy has come a long way. His first day at the vet's office found him struggling to stand up and he was not able to jump out of his cage without assistance (his cage was only a few inches off the ground). Fortune thanks you for your continued support. He looks forward to a full recovery and hopes to find a home of his own for the holidays.

Motown adopted!

We're very happy to announce that Motown has been officially adopted by the foster family who took such good care of him through his surgery and rehab, including driving him from the Inland Empire to the San Diego area for surgery and several follow-up visits. This clever boy recognized a good home when he saw one, so he turned on the charm and won the hearts of his foster parents.

The three of them are grateful to GRCGLA Rescue for doing everything possible to help Motown. Our team of volunteers found him in the shelter, got him out of there and into the finest veterinary specialist care available, matched him up with this wonderful family after checking out the home they would provide for him, consulted with the veterinarians, and monitored Motown's care through surgery and rehab.

We in GRCGLA Rescue are grateful to the Shamrock Circle Fund donors who make this extraordinary medical care possible.

And we're especially grateful to have Motown adopted into the wonderful home where he has been so well loved and cared for, and where his future needs will be met.

Congratulations and Happy Thanksgiving to the new family.

Fortune improving every day!

Little Fortune is doing better. He is still on his antibiotics and Prednisone for his Puppy Strangles. In addition, Fortune is being given a Glucosamine complex supplement to protect the development of his hip joints from the medication he is taking. It is believed that the Prednisone may interfere with normal skeletal growth in the hips. The Glucosamine supplement should help prevent this from happening. Fortune is also being given an antibiotic eye cream to ease the soreness and heal the open wounds. And if this isn’t enough, he was diagnosed with Tapeworm. Poor little guy! Not to worry though, Fortune is in good spirits and is improving every day. His face is clearing up and he has a lot more energy. Once all of these physical problems are resolved, Fortune will be neutered and get ready to find his forever family. Because he will be under our vet’s care for a while longer, Fortune appreciates any help you can offer. If you would like to support Fortune in his journey to get well, please consider making a small donation to the Shamrock Circle Fund.
