Meet Kopper

We rescued Kopper from a local shelter. She was found alone on a property with no ID and was brought to the shelter. This senior girl has a poor coat, is anemic, very thin, has never been spayed, and has 5 abdominal masses (1 large mass and 4 much smaller ones). The shelter thinks she is about 15 years old, but our vet thinks she’s more like 10. Her energy is pretty good and she is a very sweet girl. Our vet has suggested that we take a biopsy of the large mass to make sure it’s not an aggressive cancer. We do not want to put Kopper through a big surgery if she has a cancer that is going to limit her life expectancy. We’ll see what the biopsy tells us. In the meantime, Kopper is boarding at our vet’s office getting good food and good care.

Banjo doing well

Today I went to visit Banjo and what a different dog. Yes, he still has his stitches from his surgery but he is now eating and starting to be a puppy. Everyone is relieved that he is doing so well. He had not eaten in over a week and had lost weight so he has a lot of catching up to do. He is still finishing up his medication and will be on some medicine for his loose stools until they improve. Once the vets feel he is ready to start his puppy shots, we'll go ahead and get them started. He's now in a foster home and when I called last night he was asleep in his crate after a big day in another new place.

I want to thank all of those involved in helping this puppy to recover and have a good chance at a nice life. When he came in to rescue we did not know if he would survive. He had excellent veterinarians taking care of him and watching over him. Both the vets and their staff went the extra mile for this boy. Our rescue supported helping him and I am so proud of all that we do to help these furry kids.

Banjo update

Today I got to see our sweet little guy, Banjo. He is still on IV's, and they are starting to feed him with a syringe. His fever is down and he actually wagged his little tail today. He's a handsome boy and we hope he is finally on the road to recovery. It is still a mystery why this pup was so sick. The first night he came to us, I as well as the veterinary staff went home with heavy hearts, not knowing if he would be with us when they came back in. It has taken careful monitoring on the doctors and staff at this veterinary hospital. They have even made visits at night to check on him especially during his first days with us. I am so thankful for all the wonderful care he has received.

Snowdon update

I drove up to meet Snowdon at the vets for a recheck on his leg. We had put him on a medication 2 weeks ago to see if this would help. It did not and he is still not putting any weight on this leg. The doctor rechecked him and more x-rays were taken to get clearer views of the affected joints - elbow and wrist. He is painful when you manipulate then. Snowdon is a very sweet boy and put up with a lot during this examination. He went home with a different medication and we will see if this helps him.

Meet Banjo

Banjo recently came in to rescue when his family could not care for him. He is currently an 11 week old pup, was very lethargic upon intake and required surgery yesterday to determine if there was an obstruction that was causing his discomfort. He is on supportive care, antibiotics, and lots of TLC. The vet where he is currently located has stayed in touch with me with daily calls and notes. I say daily - more like many times daily. This is a very cute pup but currently he is very sick and it is on a day to day situation how he will do. We are always optimistic and hope that this little guy has the strength to pull thru.

Meet Chrissy

Chrissy came in to rescue as a 2 year old girl, in heat needing to be spayed and, upon examination after she arrived, she was in need of bilaterial entropion surgery on the bottom lids of both eyes. This sweet girl came in from a local shelter when no one came for her. She is very thin but does like to eat so our volunteers are giving her lots of love, and attention. The vet is giving her good food and we are going to put some weight on her. She's a sweet dog and if she heals well, she will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks. Thanks for your support.

Snowdon update

I went to visit with Snowdon this past Wednesday and found a very sweet, happy, friendly boy. He is still limping and while at times he will put the paw down, he still does not put his full weight on it. We are changing his medication and will give him 2 weeks in a foster home to see if there is any improvement. We are all still baffled by this and now it's just a sit back, and wait to see if there is any improvement before putting him thru any more tests. The doctor is also waiting for the results from a test that was run last week and sent out. Hopefully, we will find something out from that one by the first of this coming week. Snowdon is now in a foster home, and enjoying his time there. He went over there this past Thursday and had made himself at home in a very short time. I received a photo from his foster mom that evening of him sleeping in the favorite chair.

Meet Snowdon

Snowdon recently came in to rescue when his family had to give him up. He is the sweetest boy and he just loves everyone. Unfortunately, he has been limping since he came to us. We have taken xrays, and had a neurologist do a thorough exam on him. Nothing conclusive was found. Next an orthopedic specialist did an exam and again nothing. Today was another day of tests and now he will be going to a foster home to observe him and hope he will improve with time. We have several things that this could be but we need to observe him further and give him some time. Test results have to come back and a different medication is being tried. I'll update as I find out anything.
