Bayley cleared to run around!

On Thursday, 7/29, Bayley had his follow-up appointment with the Doctor who repaired his fractured leg.  He was sedated and X-rays were taken.  Everything looked perfect and he is doing amazingly well!  All restrictions have been lifted (except playing off-leash with other dogs) and Bayley is now able to run around his yard, go for long walks and jump up and down off the couch.  His foster family will now start focusing on reintroducing him to the outside world and other pups with leash training and interactions with other pups for socialization.  He does not require any further follow up care with his neurologist or orthopedic specialists. Very good news -- congratulations Bayley!

Bayley moves to foster home

Bayley is recovering beautifully from his surgery and is now in a foster home.  He had a follow up appointment with his orthopedic surgeon and his recovery couldn’t be going better.  Both of his legs have shown tremendous improvement and are getting stronger each day.  He walks with the assistance of a sling and is able to stand on his own for short periods of time.  This young boy has boundless amounts of energy and drive to get better and doesn’t realize he still needs to rest. 😊  He is enjoying many short walks a day with his sling and LOVES long walks in his doggie stroller to get him out and about.  We are so pleased with how well he is doing!

Bayley sends a pupdate

Hi my name is Bayley! I’m a very sweet boy with a great disposition. I’ve been through a lot and no matter what I’m always happy to make friends. When GRC first found me I couldn’t use my back legs but they are taking care of me now and they got me surgery to fix them. I can stand now for short periods of time and I’m getting better every day. My favorite things are people, cuddles and food. I might like to play catch but I just can’t do that yet. I hope I can find my forever home soon.

Bayley leaves orthopedic vet facility

Bayley moved to his regular vet yesterday for continued care. He is such an amazing young dog and is improving each day. He is working on getting his urination under control and using his sling to learn how to walk. Bayley doesn’t realize he is hurt and wants to run. His vet tech says he is the greatest dog ever!

Bayley is already making good progress!

Bayley is staying at the speciality orthopedic hospital for several days so the surgeons can keep an eye on him and ensure he is healing correctly. He is able to get up on his own to drink water and eat. He isn’t putting much weight on his leg just yet, but as he heals, we look forward to gradual changes each day.

Meet Bayley - hit by car and abandoned

Bayley is just a bit over a year-old. He came in to Rescue unable to stand, with a compound fracture in his right leg. He was found stray on the street in the San Diego area. The people who found him and turned him over to Rescue reported that they were able to contact his owners; the owners stated Bayley was hit by a car and, since they did not have the means to pay for his care, they abandoned him. He is now one of our Shamrock Dogs.

We immediately had x-rays and a full work up done, including a MRI. He will need surgery and 6-8 weeks of very limited movement and rest. His prognosis is good.

Update on Woody

Woody’s surgery is over and went very well!  He is now back in his foster home resting and recuperating.  He has a recheck in 2 weeks and then one more in 6 weeks.  His fosters are spoiling him rotten with lots of love and cuddles which he so deserves.  So happy for this boy!

Woody's hip surgery scheduled

Woody’s surgery is tomorrow and we are so excited for him!  He will have a bit of a recovery but he is young enough to rebound quickly and we expect him to be up and about in no time.  Stay tuned for pictures and updates on our lovable boy.

Meet Woody!

Meet our beautiful and loving boy Woody! Woody is a young boy, not quite 3 years old, who joined rescue after being a frequent flyer at a local animal shelter. Before coming to us, we knew he had some very serious hip issues. Both of his hips have osteoarthritis and dysplasia. Turns out his left hip is also dislocated. We are committed to giving him the care he needs and he has seen a specialist and is now scheduled to have an FHO (Femoral Head Osteotomy) on his left leg on February 19th. We hope this will be the only surgery he will require though there is a chance he may need the right hip done later in life. Woody has been in a wonderful foster home and has proven himself to be a wonderful boy who loves everyone he meets. We look forward to him being adopted by his loving foster family once he recovers from his surgery.
